Redlands Coast 2032 Legacy Working Group

Legacy is a key part of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games (Brisbane 2032). The values of the Olympic Games – respect, friendship, and excellence as well as the promotion of inclusion and equal opportunities provide a unique platform to promote, accelerate and deliver lasting benefits for people, communities, city, image and infrastructure. 

Redlands Coast is proud to be a venue host city for the Brisbane 2032 Canoe Slalom event, Council, together with Games partners are now focusing on ensuring enduring benefits will be realised for the Redlands Coast community through this opportunity. The Redlands Coast Legacy Working Group will help capitalise on this once in a generation opportunity presented by Brisbane 2032.  

The Redlands Coast 2032 Legacy Working Group is comprised of the following community leaders who will work to ensure that Brisbane 2032 delivers lasting legacies for the city.

Andrew Bradley

Areas of interest: Sustainability expert; Community sport and active recreation.

Summary: Andrew is the founder and Managing Director of XBURO, a project delivery/management consultancy specialising in delivery of complex projects in the Built Environment, with offices based in Cleveland, Glasgow, Edinburgh and London. Andrew has 25 years’ experience in the delivery of major complex projects globally, also delivering the Gold Coast Cultural Precinct and two Commonwealth Games 2018 legacy facilities: the Anna Meares Velodrome in the Sleeman Sports Complex and the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre, Southport. He has served as the President of the Redlands United Football Club for four years and is founding member of the Redlands Community Cancer Support Charity. 

Anne Livingstone

Areas of interest: Disability sector – accessibility and inclusion; Health and wellbeing; Innovation and research; Business, industry and trade.

Summary: Anne is International Research and Projects Director for Global Community Resourcing and the National Executive Lead for the Aged Care Innovation and Technology Council. She has more than 40 years’ experience in primary health care and community service sector where she has focused on community based care. Anne is also currently involved in several projects in the areas of quality, innovation, social service redesign, deployment of living labs and enabling technology. Anne has lived in the Redlands for 21 years, and is passionate about the community, environment and lifestyle the region has to offer.

Dr Caroline Riot

Areas of interest: Olympians/Paralympians/High-performance sport; Sustainability expert; Business, industry and trade; Tourism and events; Innovation and research; Education and training.

Summary: Caroline is Director, Games Engagement and Partnerships for Griffith University, she is responsible for leading and coordinating the university's Olympic efforts. Caroline worked with the International Olympic Committee across eight countries and is a two-time recipient of International Olympic Academy (Olympia, Greece) nomination. Caroline chaired the Queensland Olympic Council Education Committee and was the inaugural Chair of Special Olympics (Queensland) and delivered pre-Sydney 2000 training for international delegates with the Queensland Government's International Sport Unit and was delegate at the Athens 2004 and Vancouver 2012 pre-Olympic conferences. Caroline is passionate about bringing the Redlands Coast community along the journey to Brisbane 2032 and ensuring enduring legacies for all people.

Daniel Fitzgibbon OAM

Areas of Interest: Olympians/Paralympians/ High Performance sport.

Summary:  Daniel has been racing sailboats his entire life.  Growing up on Brisbane’s bayside he started sailing at a young age, early success fuelled his Olympic dream and led him to Sydney to compete in the 1997 Sydney Olympic Classes Regatta. During this regatta, he was involved in a terrible accident that left him a C5 Quadriplegic at the age of 20. Despite being confined to a wheelchair, with no hand function, Daniel won the 2004 Disabled Sailing World Championship. He was named 2004 Australian Sailor of the Year with a Disability and 2004 Queensland Sailor of the Year. In 2008, Daniel won the Silver medal at the Beijing Paralympics and went on to win to back to back Gold medals at the 2012 London Paralympic Games and the 2016 Paralympic Games with crewmate Liesl Tesch. Daniel’s other achievements include 2012 Paralympic Team of the Year, 2012 Australian Sailor of the Year with a Disability award and the 2012 Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club Yachtsman of the Year award. In 2014 Daniel received an Order of Australia Medal for his services to sailing and in 2017 was inducted into the Australian Sailing Hall of Fame.

Delvene Cockatoo-Collins

Areas of interest: Cultural diversity, including Quandamooka Traditional Custodian representatives; Business, industry and trade; Tourism and events; Arts and culture.

Summary: Delvene is a Quandamooka woman who lives and works on Minjerribah/North Stradbroke Island, operating a studio-based arts business and through creative art mediums, she expresses the stories of her family's lived experiences on North Stradbroke Island. Delvene is the designer of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Prizewinner Medals, Commemorative Medal and the large inflatable Migalu, which featured in the opening ceremony. Delvene has been a member of the Committee for Brisbane since 2019 and is external advisor Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Committee, Tourism and Events Queensland. She is member of the SEQ Indigenous Chamber of Commerce and panel member for the Commonwealth Games Federation to decide the Birmingham Games Medal Design 2022.  

John Brennan OAM

Areas of interest: Olympians/Paralympians/High-performance sport; Tourism and events; Community sport and active recreation.

Summary: John has been involved in Surf Lifesaving Queensland (SLSQ) for more than 40 years as volunteer and has 25 years’ professional employment in senior executive leadership positions, including SLSQ Chief Executive Officer for 10 years, SLSQ Executive Manager for five years and SLSQ Surf Sports Manager for 10 years. John's services to surf lifesaving were honoured with the Order of Australia Medal in 2012 and the Australian Sports Medal in 2000 for services to SLSQ. John was also Director of the Q Sport Board for 17 years, including 10 years as Chair. He has represented SLSQ on the Queensland Government State Disaster Management Group, Children’s Commission, Commonwealth Games and Queensland Water Safety. John has lived in the Redlands for more than 25 years and is passionate about showcasing the outstanding qualities that Redlands Coast has to offer.

Michael Choi OAM

Areas of interest: Cultural diversity; Business, industry and trade; Health and well-being.

Summary: Michael has experience in business, management, property and construction, government and community engagement. He is Director of multiple companies in the property, construction, trade and health sectors. He was a Member of Queensland Parliament for more than 11 years, holding numerous portfolios from 2001 to 2012, and was former Chair of the Queensland Small Business Council. Michael is Honorary Ambassador of both Redland City and Brisbane City and Honorary Citizen of the City of Shenzhen, China. He is interested in community health and well-being and was a member of the Queensland Government’s Community Cabinet. Michael has been recognised with a Medal of the Order of Australia and is recipient of several business awards. He has lived and worked in Redlands Coast for more than two decades and is passionate about the region.

Michael Mrowka

Areas of interest: Sustainability expert; Transport.    

Summary: Michael is the Director of REA Global Renewable Engineering and Director of Renewable Energy Advisors. He has worked in the renewable energy and sustainability industry since 2006 and has extensive knowledge and experience in research and development, including design and deployment of sustainable initiatives and technologies. He has experience in community engagement and has worked with University of Queensland, TAFE Queensland and Chamber of Commerce. Michael grew up in the Redlands and is passionate about the Olympic Games and Redlands Coast. He wants to inspire the next generation of champions in the Redlands.

Noemie Fox

Areas of interest: Olympians/Paralympians/High-performance sport; Sustainability expert; Business, industry and trade; Education and training.

Summary: Noemie grew up in a family of Olympians and across different cultures. She was a Tokyo Olympic Canoe Slalom Reserve and has won several prestigious titles, including 2022 National Champion, 2019 World Champion in C1W (teams), U23 World Championship Bronze Medalist and three-time U23 Oceania Champion. Noemie also has strong corporate experience, and is currently consulting in the areas of business transformation and business improvement. She is passionate about giving back to the community and is a Thrive with Pride Ambassador with the Australian Institute of Sport and was previously a Bite Back Ambassador with Black Dog Mental Health Institute.

Sandra Jacob

Areas of interest: Business, industry and trade; Tourism and events; Disability sector – accessibility and inclusion; Transport.

Summary: Sandra has a professional interest in public transport, accessible transport and tourism experiences for seniors and people with a disability. Sandra and her partner have owned and operated a coach transport business in the Redlands for the past 20 years, which also includes running school bus services, day trips and extended tours for seniors. Sandra is passionate about ensuring people of all ages and abilities have a voice and access to safe and connected public transport.
