We are currently upgrading a number of roads, car parks, parks, footpaths, marine works, cycle ways, and intersections across the Redlands that have been identified as improvements under our current budget.

Projects

Capalaba - PDG-30695 - Brewer St, Capalaba - Maintenance Works
Benefits: The benefits of this project are to maintain the rock revetment to stop further erosion in this section of creek. Description of Works: Redland City Council’s Construction Crews will be undertaking emergency maintenance works to prevent further erosion to the creek located on land commonly known as 36A Brewer St, Capalaba (Lot 33 on RP134761). These works will involve the installation of a geo-fabric liner covered by revetment rock. Timeline: 5th August 2022 through to 31st August 2022, 7.00am to 5.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Capalaba - PDG-43619 - Stormwater Drainage - 37 Willard Road, Capalaba
Benefits: Currently storm water overflows from the council road into private properties which has caused flooding issues. Site investigation works determined that storm water catchpits and drainage pipes are required to collect the ponding stormwater from the road and re-direct it to the stormwater drainage network Description of Works: Redland City Council’s internal construction crews will be continuing previous works and installing 80m of 450mm Black Max Stormwater pipes, a 2400mm catchpit and associated works between the frontages of house No's 35 & 52 Willard Road, Capalaba. Timeline: Monday 29th August 2022 through to Friday 30th September 2022, 7.00am to 5.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Capalaba - PDG-44054 - Park Upgrade McTaggart Street Park
Description of Works: Redland City Council contractors will be conducting works including: • Removal of existing seat, tap, fence barrier, toddler slide deck, double swing, signs, gate slip rail and kerb ramps; • Supply and installation of sporting equipment including soccer goal; • Supply and installation of new park sign, tap with bubbler and maintenance tap, dog bowl, parkway seat, recycled plastic bollards and swinging park gate; • Supply and installation of hardscape elements including kerb ramps, pram ramp, tactile paving, concrete pathway, concrete slab and concrete kerbing; • Supply and installation of landscape features including topsoil, turf and forest mulch and trimming of existing trees (where noted on the construction drawings); • Adjustment of existing level of the fire hydrant to match new concrete pathway levels; and • Supply and installation of water service connections. Timeline: Expected Start Date: 06/09/2022 Expected Finish Date: 24/10/2022 (Weather & Site conditions permitting)
Capalaba - PDG-44067-1 - Park Upgrade - Winter Memorial Park
Redland City Council Contractors will be upgrading the existing playground as the current play equipment has reached it's end of life. Works will include the installation of the new play equipment, sporting equipment, playground surfaces, landscaping and associated works. Timeline: Expected Start Date: 01 August,2022 Expected completion Date: 28 October, 2022 (weather & site conditions permitting)
Cleveland/Thornlands - PDG-64522-1 - SPS141 Rising Main Renewals-Cleveland/Thornlands
Benefits: The existing sewer main in this location has reached the end of its useful life. Replacement is being undertaken to ensure there is continued reliability to the wastewater network. Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be replacing a section of sewer main immediately upstream of Sewage Pump Station #141, South Street, Cleveland. South Street will remain open to traffic during the works however some parking spaces adjacent to pumpstation will be temporarily unavailable for use. SPS#141 will remain operational during the work. Timeline: 15th September through to 21st October 2022, 7.00am to 5.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions. Should the date move further than 1 week from the above proposal an updated Notification will be issued.
Perulpa Island - PDG-44040 - Drainage Works Calm Waters Crescent, Perulpa Island
Description of Works: Redland City Council’s Construction Crews will be constructing a concrete lined swale to assist with drainage and associated works from the corner of Double Bay St and Calm Waters Crescent to No. 9 Calm Waters Crescent, Perulpa Island. Timeline: Wednesday 10th August 2022 through to 16 September 2022, 7.00am to 5.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Point Lookout - PDG-44043-2-2 - Pedestrian Link - Minjerribah Coastal Walk Stage 2
Redland City Council contractors will be conducting works including: • Removal of existing signage, timber log barrier, park furniture, wheelie bin, BBQ, bin, bollards and old Frenchman’s Stairs; • Relocate existing boulders; • Installation of hard surfacing including coloured bitumen and reinforced concrete slabs; • Installation of park furniture including bin, table settings and custom seat on reinforced concrete slabs and bollards; • Installation structures including timber boardwalk and viewing platforms; • Upgrading of the Frenchman’s stairs; • Installation of landscape features including rock/boulder retaining wall, mulch, topsoil, matting, turf and assorted planting, including weed removal; and • Installation of sub-surface drainage Timeline: Expected Start Date: 04 October 2022 Expected Finish Date: 21 April 2023 (Weather & Site conditions permitting)
Redland Bay - PDG-20519 - New Community Group Facility – Weinam Creek Development
Redland City Council’s Construction Crews will be undertaking the construction of the new Redlands Sea Dragons facility located at 23-29 Moores Road, Redland Bay. These works will include the construction of entrance and exit roads, concrete slabs, new shed and under roof storage area, fencing and associated landscaping. Timeline: Mid December 2021 through to February 2023, (weather permitting). Working hours Monday to Friday 7.00am to 5.00pm. The completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather or supply chain delays.
Redland Bay - PDG-80010-10 80385 - Bus Shelter Renewal - Gordon Road Redland Bay (Redland Bay State School)
Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be conducting works including removal of existing footpath and installation of new bus shelters, footpath, kerb and associated works. Timeline: 19 September 2022 through to 7 October 2022, 7.00am to 6.00pm. The majority of works are expected to be completed within the school holiday period. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Russel Island - PDG-44061-1 - Park Upgrade - Lions Boulevard Park, Russell Island
Redland City Council Contractors will be installing a play area with a pirate ship play unit, crow’s nest climber, slide and sensory elements, basket swing, springer toy, sandstone block seating wall, shelter with table setting, water bubbler and double BBQ, planting and turf. Removal of very poorly conditioned play unit and park furniture and associated works. Expected Start Date - 05/09/2022 Expected Finish Date - 21/10/2022 (weather & site conditions permitting)
Russell Island - PDG-43768 - Russell Isand Ferry Terminal Car Park Upgrade & Expansion
Benefits: The benefits of the car park upgrade and expansion include the following: • Significant improvements in the amenity to the arrival and departure experience on Russell Island. • 64 additional parking spaces, 8 motorcycling parking abys and compact bicycle racks. • Dedicated taxi, emergency vehicle zones and bus drop off area. • Improved pedestrian access within new raised pathways, linemarking and pedestrian crossings. • New roundabout for heavy vehicle manoeuvring and improvement to traffic flow. • Provision for future electric vehicle charging • Energy-efficient, wildlife friendly LED Lighting. • Dedicated taxi and emergency vehicle zones. • Landscaping to compliment the new facilities. Description of Works: Redland City Council’s Internal Construction Projects Unit will be completing car park expansion and upgrades at the Russell Island Ferry Terminal. Works will involve, but not limited to: • Construction of new car parking areas. • Reconfiguration & upgrade of the existing car parking areas. • Installation of kerb and channelling. • Installation of traffic islands. • Installation of line marking and traffic signs • Installation and upgrading of Rate 3 street lighting. • Landscaping works. These works will be built in three stages to minimise disruptions.
Russell Island - PDG-44162 - High Street, Russell Island - Culvert Renewal near Bamboo Road
Benefits: The benefits of this project include: • To alleviate potential overland flooding issues at the intersection of High Street and Bamboo Road, Russell Island. Description of Works: Redland City Council Internal Construction Crews will be completing drainage improvements at High Street, Russell Island near Bamboo Road. These works will involve but not limited to the following: • Removal of the existing 900mm stormwater pipes and headwalls at 129 High Street and replace with 600mm FRC stormwater pipes and headwalls. • Placement of rock pitching to the headwall on the outlet. • Installation of weld mesh fencing. • Reinstatement of asphalt road and a small section of pathway. • Placement of turf to disturbed areas.
Russell Island - PDG-44248 - Centre Road, Russell Island - Stormwater Drainage Improvements
The benefits of this project include: • Alleviate stormwater drainage issues at 288 Centre Road, Russell Island. Description of Works: Redland City Council Internal Construction Crews will be undertaking stormwater drainage improvements at 288 Centre Road, Russell Island. These works will involve the following: • Installation of two catchpits, stormwater pipes and a precast concrete headwall. • Repairs to a small section of kerb, footpath and road which will be removed to allow for new infrastructure to be installed. • Landscaping (installation of jute matting and planting of Lomandra plants) on the batters adjacent to existing headwall to stabilise the area. • Turf will be placed in areas which have been disturbed for these works.
Thorneside - PDG-43957-1 - Park Renewal - Beth Boyd Park, Thorneside
Redland City Council Contractors will be upgrading the existing Beth Boyd Park, Thorneside with the installation of; • Pirate themed play unit with crows nest, climbing and sliding elements, cannon, ship anchor with treasure chest • Pedal coaster, double swing, carousel, trampoline • Pillar of Hercules, walk the plank • Water play activities with pumps, sluice gate and creek bed with bridge crossing • Tunnel slide, binoculars, softfall, pathways and discovery trails • Seating, table settings, drinking fountain, shelter • Landscaping including turf and mulching Including all associated approvals, certifications and management plans. And the removal of; • Very poor conditioned play equipment Expected Start Date: 19/04/2022 Expected Finish Date: 23/12/2022 (weather & site conditions permitting)
Thornlands - PDG-43704-1 - Dog Off Leash Area Upgrade – Freshwater Park, Thornlands
Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking the installation of a large Dog Off Leash Area, including; fencing, shelter, seating, bin, water bubbler with dog bowl, dog agility equipment, turf to disturbed areas and associated works. Expected Start Date - 17/10/2022 Expected Finish Date - 15/11/2022 (weather & site conditions permitting)
Victoria Point - PDG-80010-10 44068 - Bus Shelter Renewal - Bus Interchange Bunker Road Victoria Point
Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be conducting works including removal of existing roofing, electrical fittings, existing paint and surface rust. Works will also include installation of new roof, electrical fittings, protective paint coating, pram ramp, perforated screens, new taxi zone and associated works. Timeline: 4 October 2022 through to 11 November 2022, 7.00am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Victoria Point - PDG-NA - Cleveland Redland Bay Rd, Victoria Point - Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR)
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is undertaking a $110 million package of works to upgrade Cleveland-Redland Bay Road. Part of the project includes duplicating Cleveland-Redland Bay Road from Anita Street to Magnolia Parade.
