We are currently upgrading a number of roads, car parks, parks, footpaths, marine works, cycle ways, and intersections across the Redlands that have been identified as improvements under our current budget.

Birkdale/Alexandra Hills - PDG-43354-2 - Birkdale Active Pathway Upgrade
Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking the installation of a concrete pathway and associated works. For Construction purposes only, the project will be split into 3 stages and is expected to be constructed in the following order: •Stage One: Edinburgh Road & Crown Road, Alexandra Hills (to Judy Holt Bushland) •Stage Two: Judy Holt Access Road & Old Cleveland Road East, Birkdale •Stage Three: Francesca Court & Sunnybay Drive, Birkdale. Timeline: 21 October 2022 through to 19 May 2023, Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 6:00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Capalaba - PDG-20772-1 - DOLA Capalaba Regional Park
Redland City Council contractors will be conducting upgrade works to the DOLA (dog off leash area) including: • Removal and disposal to waste of existing pole, gates, interpretive advisory signs, tap and some sections of existing fence; • Protection and retention of some existing assets; • Relocation of bin; • Supply and installation of dog agility equipment; • Supply and installation of new fencing, new taps with dog bowls and associated water service connections (including required permits), drainage, signage, single gate, double maintenance gate, concrete pathway and concrete dog off leash entrance; and • Supply and installation of landscape features including spade edging, mulch, topsoil and turf. Expected Start Date : 16/01/2023 Expected Completion Date : 10/02/2023 (Weather & Site conditions permitting)
Cleveland - PDG-44132-1 - Footpath Upgrade Riley Peter Place
Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking the installation of a concrete footpath, kerb ramps with tactile paving, kerb & channel, turf, removal of timber bollards, trimming and removal of trees where required and associated works. Expected Start Date : 09/01/2023 Expected Completion Date: 27/01/2023 (Weather and Site conditions permitting)
Cleveland - PDG-46518-1 - MBC Boardwalk Rehabilitation – McLeod Street, Cleveland
Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking the re-construction of the damaged portion of the MBC boardwalk structure at McLeod Street Cleveland, that was damaged by a fallen tree on 16 December 2022. The repair works consist of removal of the tree that has caused the damage and all associated repair works as necessary to make the bridge sound and operational. Please note that these works are being undertaken at the earliest availability of our contractor and were not planned. Expected Start Date - 16/01/2023 Expected Finish date - 27/01/2023 (weather & site conditions permitting)
Cleveland, Thornlands, Victoria Point - PDG-44992-1 - Redlands Coast Fibre Network Stage 2B
Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be designing and installing fibre cable and associated works from Cleveland to Victoria Point. The provision of design, documentation, supply, construction, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning of a long haul / distribution fibre cable, access points and service links including without limitation all associated communication, electrical, civil and mechanical components for the full functioning of a fibre optic wide area network. The scope of works extends across Redland City, commencing from the join outside the depot along Wellington Street and ending at the Victoria Point Waste Water Treatment Plant. This project is to be considered as part of the second stage of a larger fibre optic network and as such the end point of Victoria Point is not the end of the network but should be considered as an interconnect for the larger network. (However, for the purposes of this contract this Stage constitutes the entire project). Timeline: 26 October 2022 through to 26 May 2023, 7.00am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions. Should the date move further than 1 week from the above proposal an updated Notification will be issued.
Point Lookout - PDG-44043-2-2 - Pedestrian Link - Minjerribah Coastal Walk Stage 2
Redland City Council contractors will be conducting works including: • Removal of existing signage, timber log barrier, park furniture, wheelie bin, BBQ, bin, bollards and old Frenchman’s Stairs; • Relocate existing boulders; • Installation of hard surfacing including coloured bitumen and reinforced concrete slabs; • Installation of park furniture including bin, table settings and custom seat on reinforced concrete slabs and bollards; • Installation structures including timber boardwalk and viewing platforms; • Upgrading of the Frenchman’s stairs; • Installation of landscape features including rock/boulder retaining wall, mulch, topsoil, matting, turf and assorted planting, including weed removal; and • Installation of sub-surface drainage Timeline: Expected Start Date: 04 October 2022 Expected Finish Date: 21 April 2023 (Weather & Site conditions permitting)
Redland Bay - PDG-20519 - New Community Group Facility – Weinam Creek Development
Redland City Council’s Construction Crews will be undertaking the construction of the new Redlands Sea Dragons facility located at 23-29 Moores Road, Redland Bay. These works will include the construction of entrance and exit roads, concrete slabs, new shed and under roof storage area, fencing and associated landscaping. Timeline: Mid December 2021 through to February 2023, (weather permitting). Working hours Monday to Friday 7.00am to 5.00pm. The completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather or supply chain delays.
Redland Bay - PDG-46414 - Site Establishment – Weinam Creek Stage 3A
Redland City Council’s Construction Project Unit are in the process of setting up site offices and material storage areas at the south western corner of Sel Outridge Park Redland Bay. These works are in preparation for the upcoming Weinam Creek Stage 3A project which forms part of the larger Weinam Creek PDA. Timeline: Tuesday 25th October 2022 through to late January 2023, 7.00am to 5.00pm. This completion date may change due to wet weather. Another Project Delivery Notification for the construction of the Weinam Creek Stage 3A project will be issued once a confirmed start date is known.
Redland Bay - PDG-46414-1 - Weinam Creek Development Stage 3A
Redland City Council’s Internal Construction Projects Unit will be undertaking works related to the Weinam Creek Development – Stage 3A and as part of the Project, Council will be constructing infrastructure within the Weinam Creek PDA Precinct. Works will involve, but not limited to: o Realignment of Hamilton St to give direct access to Weinam Creek Marina o Construction of a roundabout to the intersection of Hamilton St & Weinam St o Upgrade reconfiguration & realignment of all underground services incl of water, sewer, Telstra and electrical o Road resurfacing works to areas of the road which have been disturbed o Installation of line marking and traffic signs o Upgrade of all street lighting o Landscaping works Timeline: Tuesday 10th January 2023 and will be completed by June 2024, (weather permitting), 7.00am to 5.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Redland Bay - PDG-46512 - Weinam Creek Development - Stage 3B-A
Redland City Council’s Internal Construction Projects Unit will be undertaking works related to the Weinam Creek Development – Stage 3B-A and as part of the Project, Council will be constructing infrastructure within the Moore’s Road Carpark, Redland Bay. Works will involve, but not limited to: o Reconfiguration of existing carpark in Moore’s Road. o Installation of Water pipes o Installation of Manholes & Catchpits o Installation of kerb and channelling. o Installation of traffic islands. o Road resurfacing works to areas of the road which have been disturbed. o Installation of line marking and traffic signs. o Placement of turf to disturbed areas o Landscaping works. Timeline: 10/01/2023 through to 6/04/2023, 7.00am to 5.00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Russel Island - PDG-44061-1 - Park Upgrade - Lions Boulevard Park, Russell Island
Redland City Council Contractors will be installing a play area with a pirate ship play unit, crow’s nest climber, slide and sensory elements, basket swing, springer toy, sandstone block seating wall, shelter with table setting, water bubbler and double BBQ, planting and turf. Removal of very poorly conditioned play unit and park furniture and associated works. Expected Start Date - 05/09/2022 Expected Finish Date - Upgrade works in this park have been paused due to unforeseen circumstances. Council remains committed to delivering this exciting upgrade project and will keep the community informed as new timeframes become available. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Russell Island - PDG-43768 - Russell Isand Ferry Terminal Car Park Upgrade & Expansion
Benefits: The benefits of the car park upgrade and expansion include the following: • Significant improvements in the amenity to the arrival and departure experience on Russell Island. • 64 additional parking spaces, 8 motorcycling parking abys and compact bicycle racks. • Dedicated taxi, emergency vehicle zones and bus drop off area. • Improved pedestrian access within new raised pathways, linemarking and pedestrian crossings. • New roundabout for heavy vehicle manoeuvring and improvement to traffic flow. • Provision for future electric vehicle charging • Energy-efficient, wildlife friendly LED Lighting. • Dedicated taxi and emergency vehicle zones. • Landscaping to compliment the new facilities. Description of Works: Redland City Council’s Internal Construction Projects Unit will be completing car park expansion and upgrades at the Russell Island Ferry Terminal. Works will involve, but not limited to: • Construction of new car parking areas. • Reconfiguration & upgrade of the existing car parking areas. • Installation of kerb and channelling. • Installation of traffic islands. • Installation of line marking and traffic signs • Installation and upgrading of Rate 3 street lighting. • Landscaping works. These works will be built in three stages to minimise disruptions.
Thorneside - PDG-43957-1 - Park Renewal - Beth Boyd Park, Thorneside
Redland City Council Contractors will be upgrading the existing Beth Boyd Park, Thorneside with the installation of; • Pirate themed play unit with crows nest, climbing and sliding elements, cannon, ship anchor with treasure chest • Pedal coaster, double swing, carousel, trampoline • Pillar of Hercules, walk the plank • Water play activities with pumps, sluice gate and creek bed with bridge crossing • Tunnel slide, binoculars, softfall, pathways and discovery trails • Seating, table settings, drinking fountain, shelter • Landscaping including turf and mulching Including all associated approvals, certifications and management plans. And the removal of; • Very poor conditioned play equipment Expected Start Date: 19/04/2022 Expected Finish Date: 23/12/2022 (weather & site conditions permitting)
Thornlands - PDG-44999-1 & 45183-1 - Pedestrian Bridge Deck Renewals - Crystal Waters Wetlands & Park, Thornlands
Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking pedestrian bridge deck renewals including the installation of new mesh decking to bridges, aluminium handrails, paint treatment and associated works. (One bridge will be operational at all times). Expected Start Date - 23/01/2023 Expected Finish Date - 03/03/2023 (weather & site conditions permitting)
Thornlands - PDG-46342-2 - West Thornlands Active Pathway Link
Project Address: South Street (south side from Wellington Street), and through Weippin Street Conservation area to Congreve Crescent, Thornlands. Description of Works: Redland City Council Contractors will be undertaking the installation of a concrete pathway, lighting upgrade at road crossings along South Street and associated works. Timeline: 21 November 2022 through to 14 April 2023, Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 6:00pm. This completion date may change over the course of the project due to wet weather and resultant poor site conditions.
Various Locations - PDG-43776-2 - Park Bollard Renewal - Various Locations
Benefits: • Removal of assets that have reached the end of their useful life. • Replace with aesthetically pleasing bollards which have a longer useful life than timber bollards. Description of Works: Redland City Council Internal Construction Crews will be renewing park assets at various locations. The works areas are as follows: Salford Waters Park – Haydon Court, Victoria Point: • Removal of existing timber bollards and replace with recycled plastic bollards. • Removal of existing park sign. This sign will not be replaced. Aquatic Paradise Park West - Queens Esplanade, Thorneside: • Removal of existing timber bollards and replace with recycled plastic bollards. Aquatic Paradise Park East – Bath Street, Birkdale: • Removal of existing timber bollards and replace with recycled plastic bollards. • Creation of garden beds between new bollards which involves the placement of sandstone boulders, tree planting and mulching. George Street Park – George Street, William Street, Edward Street and Garter Street - Alexandra Hills • Removal of existing timber bollards and replace with recycled plastic bollards. • Creation of garden beds between new bollards which involves the placement of sandstone boulders and mulching. • Removal of existing park sign in Garter Street, George Street and William Street. These signs will not be replaced.
Victoria Point - PDG-NA - Cleveland Redland Bay Rd, Victoria Point - Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR)
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is undertaking a $110 million package of works to upgrade Cleveland-Redland Bay Road. Part of the project includes duplicating Cleveland-Redland Bay Road from Anita Street to Magnolia Parade.
