Redland City Mayoral Chaplaincy Prayer Breakfast 2024
Thank you to everyone who supported the Redland City Mayoral Chaplaincy Prayer Breakfast on Wednesday 30 October from 7am at the Alexandra Hills Hotel and Conference Centre. The 2024 event has raised over $17,500 for chaplaincy programs for Redlands Coast’s state schools which benefit more than 15,000 local students each year.
Chaplaincy programs provide important social, emotional and spiritual support for Redlands Coast students, staff and families through mentoring, role modelling and pastoral care that enhance wellbeing and educational outcomes.
This year’s Guest Speaker was Phil Smith - a Community Pastor, former reporter, Royal Australian Air Force officer and author. Phil has worked in radio, television and print media covering stories from the Korean border to the Arctic Circle, Tonga and Timor Leste. At the ABC he worked in news, current affairs and documentaries, and created the pilots for Australian Story. During 13 years of full-time and reserve duties, RAAF Squadron Leader Smith served on six humanitarian and peace keeping missions as an Information Operations Specialist and Combat Camera Team Leader. Phil currently divides his time between community development work and serving on the pastoral care team at 'BELLS on Main' community space in Caloundra.
