ANZAC Day is a significant day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand, celebrated annually on 25 April to honor the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought at Gallipoli in the Ottoman Empire during World War I. Redland Coast, Queensland will also be holding various events to commemorate the day and remember all Australians who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations, including the often overlooked role that women, immigrants, and indigenous Australians played in these conflicts.
Throughout history, women have played a vital role in the military, serving as nurses, ambulance drivers, and in other support roles. Indigenous Australians and immigrants from all backgrounds have also made significant contributions to the defense of Australia, often facing additional barriers and discrimination in doing so.
As we come together to pay tribute to the sacrifices made by all those who served their country, let us also remember the often overlooked contributions of these groups. Local ANZAC Day events in Redland Coast and surrounding areas will provide an opportunity to honor the bravery and selflessness of all those who have served, regardless of their background or circumstances.
May we never forget the sacrifices made by our military personnel, their families, and the communities affected by war, and may we continue to recognize and honor the contributions of all those who have served, including women, immigrants, and indigenous Australians.
Keep up to date on announcements and details of ANZAC Day services being held across Redlands Coast.
