Each year, Council allocates funds to invest in our infrastructure, streets, parks and public spaces across the city. This is known as the Annual Capital Works Program.
Planning and development of the Annual Capital Works Program takes into consideration our long-term strategic asset and service management plans, community objectives and required levels of service for the upcoming financial year.
These combine to help ensure we can provide the right projects, at the right time, in the right places, and in a way that represents best value for money and sustainable use of resources. Each year’s capital works program sees investment from the capital budget into new assets as well as renewal and improvement of our existing assets.
This year, Council has developed a detailed Annual Capital Works Program document and an interactive map.
The Annual Capital Works Program 2024-2025 [PDF, 2.8MB] document lists each project by asset category, provides a brief project description and notes the project stage for which the capital investment has been allocated, with the interactive map presenting the information spatially.
Annual project budgets included in the document do not necessarily indicate completion timeframes or total proposed budgets. Projects will be programmed to be delivered in a considered way throughout the financial year to effectively manage resources and contractors. As usual, Council will engage in community communications prior to the commencement of any project. Works are also subject to change due to conditions such as weather, contractor availability and budget considerations.
It is important to note that the document includes information about all capital projects, some of which cannot be depicted on the map as they are delivered across many locations or do not have a specific address – for example, the Green Seal program on the Southern Moreton Bay Islands or the acquisition of art through the Redland Art Awards.
