Regional Skills Investment Strategy | Redland City Council

The Regional Skills Investment Strategy (RSIS) is an initiative introduced by the Queensland Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT). The State government committed $350,000 over two years for a dedicated Project Coordinator embedded in Redland City Council to engage with local businesses and help them take advantage of government subsidised training pathways. The role designed tailored solutions delivered under the Annual VET Investment Plan to ensure a supply of skilled local people to meet skill demand.

Redland City Council, through the Economic Development Framework 2014 – 2041, identified the following key sectors in the region:

  • Health care and social assistance; and
  • Manufacturing (in particular steel manufacturing, boat building, food processing and robotics)

The RSIS project concluded in August 2021.
