When paddling or wading in the bay or coastal waters, take care to avoid stings from stonefish by:
- checking for local warning signs that may be erected in popular swimming and wading areas
- wearing thick-soled shoes
- looking where you're wading
- monitoring the activity of children.
The sting from a stonefish is very painful. If you are stung, seek immediate medical attention.
