Your responsibilities
Any building work on a lot that contains, or is next to a lot that contains, relevant infrastructure, must meet requirements of the Queensland Development Code. Relevant infrastructure can include sewer, stormwater and water infrastructure.
The building work must be carried out so that it:
- does not adversely affect the operation of the infrastructure or place any load on it
- allows the relevant service provider, such as Council, to gain access to the infrastructure for inspection and maintenance purposes.
Download this fact sheet on building over or near infrastructure [PDF, 0.5MB] for a list of your requirements.
If your building works do not comply with the code
If your building cannot comply with the specific provisions of the Queensland Development Code, you may require a referral agency approval from Council.
