Closed landfills are sites that have historically been used as tips or dumps for waste disposal, which are now no longer used and are often restored for community use. There are no operational landfills in Redland City.

Location: John Fredericks Park, 144 Old Cleveland Road, Capalaba QLD 4157

Description: Due to the wet weather since early 2024, seepages of potentially leachate-impacted water have been identified

Status:  Consultants have been engaged for a site environmental assessment and design for drain remediation. Seepage is under monitoring and investigation.

Timeline: 2024/25

Location: Charlie Buckler Memorial Sporting Fields, 16 Terrier Court, Redland Bay QLD 4165

Description: Wet weather has led to seepages of potentially leachate-impacted water alongside the batter near the footpath bridge.

Status: Consultants have been engaged to monitor and assess remediation options. No further seepages are observed following dry weather.
